Sheer Birinj (Afghan Rice Pudding w/Almonds & Cardamom)
Ingredients
- ½ cup rice
- 1 ½ cups whole milk
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/3 cup ground cardamom
- Cinnamon to garnish
- 2 tbsp slivered almonds
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven or cook-pot to 2500 C.
- Put all the Ingredients (except the cinnamon) in the oven-proof with a lid or in a crock-pot. Stir well and cover. Cook for 1 hour.
- Remove pot from the oven (or lid from crock-pot) and stir.
- Put back in the oven and bake for an additional 45 minutes. You want the rice to be tender and the consistency to be creamy. Be sure not to overcook.
- Remove from the oven (or turn off the crock-pot) and let cool for a few minutes with the lid on.
- Garnish with cinnamon.
- Serve.
