Heat a little bit of oil. Add the onions with grated garlic and whole spices. Add rice and cumin powder.
Add the boiling water and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil and add peas. Reduce heat and cook in a covered pan until the water is reduced by half.
Once all the water is absorbed, the rice is cooked and tender. Garnish with the onion, which has been fried brown and crispy.
