Double ka Meetha
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bread
- 1 ½ liters milk
- 2 cups water
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 250 gm Khoya dried evaporated milk solids
- Ghee to fry
- Few strands of saffron
- Dried fruits to garnish
Instructions
- Boil milk and reduce to ½ keep aside.
- Soak almonds, peel, slice and keep aside.
- Take the sugar in a pan and till it melts. Add in the saffron strands.
- Cut slices of bread and fry them in ghee.
- Take an oven-proof dish and grease it well with ghee. Dip each slice of bread in sugar syrup and make one layer in the dish. Sprinkle some almonds, raisins, khoya and some of the boiled milk.
- Make another layer with the remaining slices of bread dipped in sugar syrup. Add the remaining milk and sugar syrup.
- Make dish with foil and bake it in a pre-heated oven at 1800 C for minutes (or till the liquids dry up).
